2008 Season Finale at Dr Sketchy's Melbourne

Nov. 19th, 2008 | 10:28 pm

With the very sad news of Lola LaBelle returning to LA early we are most honoured and pleased to welcome Miss Jessy Dee to our stage.  Our thoughts and warm wishes are with Lola.

Miss Jessy Dee, one half of Australia's art burlesque duo, The V Dentatas will the fill the stage next week with her opulence and style.

Renowned for subverting the traditional burlesque genre, Miss Jessy Dee will rock 'n' roll, bump 'n' grind, jazz dance, even throwing cake (Marie Antoinette style of course), as long as it's decadent, as long as it's ridiculous, and as long as it's funny!  Beware the woman with vulva dentata...

Not only a burlesque performer with The V Dentatas but mastermind of events such as Baron’s Bourgeois Burlesque Bonanza at The Espy, costume designer extraordinaire and occasional addition to the most glamorous troupe around, HiBall Burlesque, Miss Jessy Dee is sure to bring the tease to our 2008 Finale!

See you there for a big send off to 2008!

When: Wednesday 26 November 8pm
Where: The Butterfly Club 204 Bank Street South Melbourne

Miss Limber L’amour and Sir Antonio Alessandro at Dr Sketchy’s Melbourne

Nov. 12th, 2008 | 10:14 pm

Art Monkeys faced quite the challenge at our recent Halloween session.  Spoilt for choice with Hedy Lamarr look-alike, Miss Limber L’amour on stage twisting and bending accompanied by her beau, Sir Antonio Alessandro and his pin striped double bass!  But of course, our Monkeys rose to the challenge and we got a great set of Halloween themed sketches - dismembered heads, models turned to vampires - the usual ghoul stuff really…

Thank you to our lovely models, those that missed the performance and the spectacle of posing on top of a double bass can catch our Carny duo at the East Coast tour of KC & the Moonshine Band

Check the photos here for the details!

Message from Molly

Dr. Sketchys Maine Model a Victim of Homophobic Assault

Awful news from the Dr. Sketchy's community. I'd appreciate if you guys could send your well wishes. We all know how devastating healthcare costs can be, particularly for a victim of a violent assault.

Thank you,
-Molly

From: Katie Diamond

Hi Molly,

We've had a pretty upsetting event happen this past weekend here in Portland--my September model was attacked. Two men approached him around midnight on Friday, and started saying homophobic slurs to him, and then proceeded to beat him enough to concuss him and cause bleeding of the brain. You can read more about it here: http://news.mainetoday.com/updates/032723.html

This is, of course, very scary and outrageous. Already, local Portland queers and artists alike have rallied around what happened, and are doing their best to organize and educate, and the police are searching for the attackers.

A close friend of our model has created a website -- healportland.com -- to let people know about our model's status, donate money (since he has no healthcare), and leave well-wishing messages. I was wondering if it would be possible to send this out to the Sketchy's list, so we could, at minimum, let our art community know what has happened.

Thanks,
Katie
